Project Title

Multi-disciplinary Design Optimization of Cellular Heat-Exchangers.

Introduction

Hi
I did my master’s degree in Computational Science and Engineering from University of Rostock in Germany.
There, I was able to complete 2 internships and an industrial thesis. The first being at the Chair of Aero Engine Design at bTU in Cottbus, Germany. The other being at a Supercomputing center at Cineca, in Bologna, Italy, under the EU sponsored Summer of HPC program, where I tested an open source software on an exascale cluster (here). Equipped with these two strong internships, I landed a thesis in Scania’s Exhaust systems development team, which was on optimization using CFD.
Hence began my love affair with the world of (multi-disciplinary) optimization on engineering systems, that brought me here, in University of Southampton as an Early-Stage-Researcher (Marie-Curie-Fellow-ITN). The ultimate goal here in this project is to develop approaches for next generation cellular heat exchangers concepts using optimization. So stay tuned!

Reseach interests

Meta-modelling, multi-disciplinary optimisation, CFD-optimisation.

I do play some guitar every now and then, and explore the flute sometimes.
Also a big Naruto fan!

Project Title

Computational Modelling of Complex Structures & Structured Materials

Introduction

I graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India) with a Bachelor’s-Master’s Dual Degree in Mechancial Engineering. In my Master’s thesis, I mathemematically modelled the acoustics of an Idakka, an Indian musical drum. Subsequently, I conducted graduate level research in the area of smart materials at New York Univeristy (USA). In my current role, I am interested in developing numerical and analytical models of periodic structures with a special focus on potential use in industry.

Research interests

Dynamics, phononic crystals and acoustic meta-materials & musical acoustics.

Hobbies

Reading, travelling and cooking.

Introduction

I am an early-stage researcher graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Parana (Brazil) with a master’s degree on Solid Mechanics with a focus in Vibrations from the universities Technical University Ingolstadt (Germany) and the Federal University of Parana. I’ve been specializing in the topic of Vibrations since my bachelor’s degree, going through undergraduate scientific research, to internships and academic research projects motivated by and in collaboration with the industry.

Research interests

Experimental and operational modal analysis, periodic structures, metamaterial, modal and wave approach techniques for dynamic characterisation, vibration control.

Hobbies

I enjoy travelling, experiencing other cultures, learning new languages, reading, running and cooking.

Project title

Fatigue evaluations of additively manufactured materials in novel heat exchanger designs.

Introduction

I am one of the early stage researchers, specialised in material science. I have completed my Bachelors from The Universtiy of Southampton in 2015 in Mechanical Engineering. Since then, I have been actively involved in several projects to find solution to meet industrial challenges. I have worked in alloy development process for additive manufacturing at Constellium, which motivated me to pursue a research career. I am currently investigating the fatigue behaviour of additively manufactured material, mainly 316L stainless steel. In future, I plan to understand the size scale effect in additive manufacturing process and the subsequent effect on fatigue properties, which can later be used to design metamaterial structure with superior fatigue resistance properties.

Research interests

Additive manufacturing, fatigue, numerical and computer simulated modelling and metamaterial.

Hobbies

Watching movies, socializing, singing, playing badminton.
